Leadership with a statewide lens.

The Core Program is Leadership South Carolina’s intensive, flagship experience for business leaders, nonprofit professionals, government officials, and dedicated community volunteers committed to addressing the state’s challenges and opportunities.

Across nine months, participants examine how statewide issues affect their organizations and communities, learn from provocative experts, and form relationships that support collaborative public service for years to come.

Applications for the 2026–27 class closed on May 1, 2026. The annual Core Program application window runs from January 1 through May 1, and early applications may be reviewed before the deadline.

ATTENDANCE

Most sessions begin Wednesday and conclude by midday Friday. The virtual orientation and September session are mandatory; one other session during the class year may be missed without penalty.

CLASS PROJECTS

Learning becomes service.

Each class develops and implements a project that benefits South Carolina. Projects have raised awareness, supported underrepresented organizations, and created fundraising campaigns for charitable causes.

Since 2004, class projects have donated more than $800,000 to underserved communities across the state.

Each Leadership SC class completes a meaningful project that addresses critical needs across South Carolina, creating lasting change in communities statewide.

Since 2005, Leadership SC classes have donated more than $800,000 to needy communities through collaborative class projects that put leadership into action.

Every class member is challenged to contribute to the collective project, fostering a culture of shared responsibility and united purpose.

Classes are encouraged to use remaining project funds to establish scholarships for future Leadership SC participants, creating a lasting cycle of opportunity and growth.
