Shiva Hodges is a magistrate judge sitting on the U.S. District Court of South Carolina.Magistrate judges are assigned duties by federal judges and preside over most federal proceedings, except criminal felony trials. Shiva was one of the youngest federal judges in the country when appointed to the bench in 2010.
A 2019 graduate of the Leadership South Carolina, Shiva attended the University of South Carolina where she earned a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree in international business and her law degree.
Shiva widely lectures on legal issues and is a member of the Federal Bar Association, the South Carolina Women in Law Society and a former member of alumni board of the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics.
Before her appointment to the federal bench, Shiva was a commercial law attorney for Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein and later was law clerk for Joseph Anderson, then chief judge of the U.S. District Court in South Carolina.
