Legislative Day 2022
Members of the Leadership South Classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022 gathered at the State House April 21 for Leadership’s Legislative Day. While the event is usually held annually, it was canceled during the past two years because of the Covid pandemic. Leadership graduates had a chance to meet with Gov. Henry McMaster, state lawmakers and other elected state officials, including Superintendent of Education Mollie Spearman. Graduates were also recognized during sessions of both the House and the Senate. Twenty-two members of the General Assembly are Leadership South Carolina graduates. Thirty percent of Leadership South Carolina graduates hold appointed or elective state, county, or municipal offices or positions on school boards.
LSC Class of 2022 Graduation
Members of the Leadership South Carolina Class of 2022 graduated during an April 7 ceremony at the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center in Florence, S.C. The ceremony in the center’s Black Box Theater was was preceded by a reception graciously sponsored by the university and Duke Energy. Graduates and their families heard brief remarks from Rick Jiran, a 2010 graduate of Leadership South Carolina who is the vice president of community relations for Duke Energy of South Carolina. Jason Bristol, the chairman of the Leadership South Carolina Board of Trustees presented diplomas to our graduates.
