Natural Resources, Energy & Environment Session

Class members learned about alligators in South Carolina – there are an estimated 100,000 of them – during the Natural Resources session on Seabrook Island. Morgan Hart, a wildlife biologist with the state Department of Natural Resources who heads the state’s Alligator Project, addressed class members on the final day of the session. She discussed the role gators play in the state’s ecosystem, the state’s alligator hunting program and that gator attacks, while rare, are often sensationalized in the media.
