Cynthia Dannels is a deputy state treasurer for the state of South Carolina. She oversees administration and information technology as well as the state’s unclaimed property program. She also is administrator for the Future Scholar College Savings
Program and the ABLE Savings program, a program which allows those with disabilities to invest and save money while remaining eligible for government benefits. Dannels has also worked for other state agencies including the Department of
Commerce, the state Housing Finance and Development Authority and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism. Dannels earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of South Carolina. She is a certified public manager and has served as president of the state Society of Certified Public Managers. She has also served on the board of the State Government Improvement Network.
