Leadership SC 2023
Class Project Overview

Mission and Purpose: Leadership South Carolina Class of 2023 will serve the needs of foster
children and families across the state of South Carolina through partnership with Connie
Maxwell Children’s Ministries to include donation collection of needed items, fundraising of
monetary donations, and participation through a hands-on Serve Day at Connie Maxwell’s
Greenwood campus.

1. Item Collection/Donations
LSC 2023 class members are placing collection boxes at their offices, places of worship and
other community outlets to collect a variety of items needed by Connie Maxwell. Community
participation is encouraged. Connie Maxwell is in need of the following items:

Peanut butter, laundry detergent (liquid, HE compatible), liquid fabric softener, paper towels,
African American hair care products, gift cards to Walmart, Target, Amazon and restaurants in
$10 to $20 increments, baby proofing items, backpacks or duffel bags. Click here for more

2. Fundraising
Monetary donations will allow the leadership team at Connie Maxwell to work toward their
overarching mission to provide hope to South Carolina’s children and families in need. LSC
2023 class members plan to raise over $25,000 to help Connie Maxwell transportation needs.

3. Serve Day
Leadership SC Class members will participate in a Serve Day at Connie Maxwell’s
Greenwood Campus on Saturday, March 11, 2023. The class members will join with
other volunteers to assist with repairing and updating the Dunbarton
House, which is the facility that groups can stay in when coming to serve at Connie Maxwell.
