Future Challenges

April 25 & 26, 2017

Soon, you’ll meet your classmates for the Future Challenges Session, the last scheduled session for your Leadership South Carolina Experience. It’s packed with presentations and activities you won’t want to miss.

Tuesday, April 25th

We start at the Madren Center and conclude our look at personal leadership development with Dan Griffin, Griffin Associates. His presentation will focus on the next step in your Leadership experience and how to stay involved in community activism.  Following that, we’ll head to Pickens Bend Range with Rick Willey. Willey’s coached nationally ranked teams on the college-level and 4-H Clubs for many years on skeet shooting, professional fishing and hunting.

After checking into the Martin Inn, we head to dinner on Lake Hartwell for the last class dinner.

Wednesday, April 26th 

We start at 8:45 am Madren Conference Center with a welcome from Clemson University followed by a presentation by Tom Jennings, who’ll tell us about how his Leadership Experience inspired him to follow his dreams of creating an operating room for the future.

Later, Ted Abernathy, CEO of Economic Leadership, will speak on how SC compares to other states in terms of policies impacting poverty, healthcare, education and economic development. His presentation will help join all the sessions together for some interesting conclusions to our discussions.
After your official class photo,  Clemson President James Clements will address us at lunchtime and talk about his leadership perspective.
Tucker’s Restaurant is the location of the Diploma Ceremony on Wednesday, April 26.  At 6:30 pm, a brief reception followed by the ceremony at 7 pm at Tucker’s Restaurant, 3701 Clemson Blvd. Our special guest is SC Treasurer Curtis Loftis who’ll present your awards and congratulate you for your service.
